Volunteering at the  Barn Nature Center

If you're looking for volunteering opportunities with animals in Doylestown, PA, look no further than the Barn Nature Center. We are an environmental nonprofit animal sanctuary for rehomed exotic pets such as bunnies, snakes, lizards, turtles, parrots, and frogs. If you're seeking a place to volunteer in Bucks County as a student who would like to volunteer with animals, an adult who wants to give back to an animal nonprofit, or a retiree who is seeking fun and meaningful community engagement, we're the place for you!

Here are some of the many benefits of volunteering with the Barn Nature Center:

Hands-on Animal Care

Volunteers have the unique opportunity to directly contribute to the well-being of our animal residents by preparing food, cleaning enclosures, and ensuring a safe and enriching environment for our animals.

Meaningful Interaction

Volunteering at our nature center provides the chance to interact closely with both animals and visitors, offering valuable hands-on experience in animal handling, customer service, and event facilitation while fostering empathy and respect for all living creatures.

Community Impact

By dedicating your time and skills to the Barn Nature Center, you become an essential part of our mission to provide sanctuary for our animals and to educate the public about environmental conservation, animal welfare, and responsible stewardship of our natural world.

Environmental Education

Volunteers play a crucial role in fostering a love for nature and wildlife among visitors, especially children, through guided tours, educational presentations, birthday parties, and other interactive activities that highlight the importance of conservation and responsible pet ownership.

What would I do as a Barn Nature Center volunteer?

As a volunteer at the Barn Nature Center, you'll play a vital role in our mission of providing sanctuary for rehomed exotic pets and promoting environmental education. Your tasks may include preparing nutritious meals for our animal residents, ensuring their enclosures are clean and comfortable, and assisting with the facilitation of educational programs and events. You'll have the opportunity to lead guided tours, engage with visitors of all ages, and even handle some of our friendly animal ambassadors. Whether you're feeding animals, conducting tours, or assisting with events, every task contributes to our goal of fostering a deeper connection between people, animals, and the natural world. Join us as a volunteer and make a tangible difference in the lives of our animals and our community!

Who should volunteer at the Barn Nature Center?

At the Barn Nature Center, volunteering is educational and fun! Whether you're a high school or college student seeking a valuable animal volunteering experience, an adult eager to give back to the community while hanging out with awesome animals, or a retiree with a passion for nature and the environment, there's a place for you here. We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, including those interested in volunteering with animals, contributing to a nature center, supporting an animal sanctuary, or getting involved in environmental nonprofit work. Our only requirement is that anyone under the age of 14 volunteer with a parent or guardian.
